Facial Reflexology

When the body finds its balance, the face shows it too.

El descanso de después: rostro sereno, ojos cerrados.

Facial reflexology works through the stimulation of the reflex points of the face, to encourage physical, emotional and energetic balance. During the session I also work on reflex points of the hands and the feet, which are closely related to the face.

What most people describe afterwards has less to do with the face than with everything else: a sense of having genuinely stopped. It is one of the few sessions where you do not have to say anything.

This may help if…

  • You arrive with a tense body and a mind going at full speed.
  • You have been sleeping little or badly for some time.
  • You need a real pause, without having to explain yourself.
  • You find it hard to come back to calm and be present in what you are doing.
  • You want to look after your skin inside a proper rest, not only with product.

How I work

You lie on the couch, fully clothed, with face and neck uncovered. The session is quiet unless you would prefer otherwise.

To stimulate the reflex points I use a small vibrating instrument, very gentle and not invasive at all, which allows precise, delicate work without pain or discomfort.

I then complete the session with manual massage along the acupuncture meridians of the face. It is work that does not stay in the face: it helps release tension and leaves a deep sense of relaxation and wellbeing. Many people fall asleep, and that is a good sign.

During the session I use fresh RINGANA cosmetics, chosen to accompany the facial work and to give the skin a while of care, hydration and wellbeing. That turns the session into a conscious facial care ritual as well.

Facial reflexology is part of my integrative approach: each session adapts to the person and, when it makes sense, is combined with other tools such as homeopathy, emotional kinesiology, Bach Flowers, coded acupuncture or conscious breathing.

These are fresh cosmetics, the same ones I use in the practice and stock in my own shop. I am a partner of the brand, so I earn money if you buy through me. I say it plainly so you can weigh it up: what we do in the session does not depend on you buying anything.

Length

What to bring
Nothing in particular. If you arrive wearing make-up we will remove it at the start.
What will NOT happen
This is not a cosmetic treatment and promises no visible change to the skin. There are no cosmetic devices: the instrument is there to stimulate reflex points, and the facial care accompanies the reflexology work rather than being the point of the session.

Frequently asked questions

Is it the same as a facial massage?
Not quite. A cosmetic facial massage focuses on caring for the skin with manual techniques and product. Here the work is on reflex points and acupuncture meridians, with a small vibrating instrument and with the hands, and what it aims at is not only the face but a sense of balance and wellbeing throughout the body. The facial care with fresh RINGANA cosmetics is there, but it accompanies the reflexology work.
Does it hurt?
No. The instrument is very gentle and not invasive at all, and the manual work is done with gentle, sustained pressure. Some points may be more sensitive than others; say so and it is adjusted.
Can I put make-up on afterwards?
Yes, but if you can, I would suggest not doing it straight away. Afterwards the skin is clean, hydrated and cared for, and it is nice to let it breathe for a while.
How often does it make sense to come?
It depends what for. Some people come at a particular time in their life, others make it a regular part of looking after themselves. We look at it at the end of the first session.
