Guidance

You do not have to know what you need

It is one of the questions I am asked most, and it is a very fair one: several tools, none of them obvious. The short answer is that choosing the tool is part of my job, not yours.

Many people put off booking because they do not know which therapy they need, or which “box” they fit into. That is normal: everyone arrives with a different story and, often, what they are carrying cannot be put into a single word.

In practice, it almost never has to be decided before we talk.

What I do is listen, and understand what you are living through, what worries you and what you need right now. From there, I weigh up which tool, or combination of tools, fits your process best.

Sometimes we start with one tool and, along the way, we find that we need another. That is not the plan failing: it means we have understood better what you needed.

And if you are still unsure?

That is fine.

Write to me and tell me in four lines what is going on. You do not need to put it in order, or find a name for it, or use the “right” words. Knowing what brings you here is enough for us to begin.

And if I think that what you need is not one of the tools I work with, I will tell you that too.

For me, supporting you is not about finding a way to fit you into a therapy. It is about listening, and finding the most suitable way to walk alongside you.

Write to me and we will look at it
